Content Description

On September 25, 2024, at 10.30 hours, the Labour Minister, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, reported that today, he and the Department of Skill Development’s Director-General, Ms. Bubpha Rueangsud, the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General, Mr. Santi Nantasuwan, the Ministry of Labour’s executives, and the Deputy Mayor of Chiang Rai Municipality, Ms. Bang-on Malidin, and labour network officers, had the opportunity to visit Moo. 3, Rim Kok Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chiang Rai Province, where the rain continued to fall. In the Thawi Rat community, approximately 720 households have experienced flooding over 2 meters high. To make matters worse, a large amount of mud flowed into houses and remained. When the water level receded, electrical systems in the house, equipment used for work, motorcycles, etc., were still damaged. He said that the Ministry of Labour is concerned about the lives of those who still have to work and take care of their families to be able to get through this crisis. Today, he led a team of skilled workers from the Department of Skill Development under the Ministry of Labour in the northern region of Lampang, Lamphun, Phayao, Phrae, Nan, Uttaradit, and Chiang Mai to work with the skill development network in Chiang Rai to plan short-term and long-term assistance. Initially, consumer goods were given to the people, along with repairs to electrical appliances and basic knowledge on repairing electrical appliances in the home for the safety of everyone. There were five centers set up to report and receive repairs from the Department of Skill Development throughout October 2024 in Chiang Rai Province.

Mr. Phiphat continued that in the past, the Ministry of Labour assigned subordinate agencies to deliver consumer goods, including over 90,000 bottles of drinking water, rice, dried foods, medical supplies, and relief bags, to flood victims in the North and Northeastern regions. This continues to encourage and help people continuously, both in terms of supplies and knowledge of repairing electrical appliances. Therefore, people who wish to receive assistance in equipment reparations should immediately notify the Department of Skill Development in the province.
The Department of Skill Development’s Director-General, Ms. Bubpha Rueangsud added that the Chiang Rai Skill Development Institute 20 has been assigned to set up service points in each affected district to provide continuous home electrical appliance repair services to the public.
