Labour Minister Opens Hemraj Industrial Skills Cooperation Academy

          On 9 March 2017, Labour Minister General Sirichai Distakul chaired the opening of the Hemraj Industrial Skills Cooperation Academy (HISCA) at Esy Plaza in the Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate in Rayong. HISCA was launched through formation by the Department of Skills Development, Hemaraj Land and Development, the Thai-German Institute and King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, with the objective of developing the workforce in automobile and parts production within Rayong. The center also aims to enhance technological know-how within businesses, in efforts to reduce labour shortages within industrial estates. It also aims to develop the workforces’ skills to meet set standards in various professions such as computer design for vehicle parts, industrial dimensional measuring tools, design and application of relay circuit in automated control systems, welding for automotive parts, forklift driving and advice to increase productivity. In 2017, the aim is to train 100,000 workers to have the standard technical skills, to which 71,666 have already passed the training.

 

 


           The Labour Minister visited affiliated units in the EEC’s provinces comprising Rayong, Chon Buri and Chachoengsao. The ministry’s executives and leaders of affiliated units at the provincial level met to give an update on progress of labour issues in preparing the workforce to support the Eastern Economic Corridor and drive the ministry’s 20-year strategy on human resource development to success. The Labour Minister further acknowledged obstacles and advice given by stakeholders to make for better further changes and resolve current issues in the local areas.
