Content Description

On June 28, 2024, the Labour Minister, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, presided over the opening ceremony of JOB EXPO THAILAND 2024, Thailand’s most fun income-generating job fair. The Department of Employment’s Director-General, Mr. Somchai Morakotsriwan, reported on the event’s objectives. The Secretariat to the Labour Minister, Mr. Aree Krainara, from the Prime Minister’s Secretariat’s Office, performing duties for the Ministry of Labour, Mr. Phuchong Worasri, the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson, Mr. Phumiphat Mueanchan, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Pairoj Chotikasathien, and the Ministry of Labour’s executives joined the occasion at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Khlong Toei District, Bangkok.

Mr. Phiphat said that government policy under the leadership of Prime Minister Mr. Srettha Thavisin focuses on reducing inequality in society and promoting a good quality of life for the people. It strives to create opportunities for all people of the working age to pursue a career to have a stable income. Currently, Thailand is facing challenges from changes in economic and social conditions, especially in the population structure, which has made Thailand an aging society. The rate of new births has decreased significantly. As a result, Thailand is likely to have a decreasing number of working-age people in the near future, which will affect the entire industrial sector and the economy of Thailand. To efficiently drive Thailand’s industrial sector, the government has assigned the Ministry of Labour to plan and manage the workforce to be at appropriate levels and have skills that are relevant to the industrial sector, focusing on increasing the number of quality workers and promoting Thai people to have the opportunity to develop the necessary skills to pursue careers that are consistent with changes in economic and social conditions and respond to the needs of the industrial sector both now and in the future. This is especially true for skills in “innovation and advanced technology,” along with measures to encourage people of all ages to receive work opportunities. It aims to “create jobs, careers, and stable employment,” including preparation for the “future workforce” by creating knowledge and understanding of the nature of occupations and skills necessary for work so that the “future workforce” has the opportunity to prepare to develop necessary skills before entering the labour market.

“The JOB EXPO THAILAND 2024 is, therefore, an important part of promoting Thai people to have career opportunities, along with enhancing knowledge and understanding for Thailand’s workforce to be aware of the importance of developing skills to create career opportunities and stable income, leading to a better quality of life,” said Mr. Phiphat.

The Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Pairoj Chotikasathien, said that the Ministry of Labour is one of the ministries that is important to driving Thailand’s economy. Its mission is to manage the workforce in terms of both quantity and quality, supporting Thailand’s workers with skills that respond to the needs of the industrial sector. It aims to promote workplace safety, good welfare, and social security rights to improve the quality of life for all workers. It focuses on reducing social inequality by creating opportunities for every citizen to have a career to create a stable income and a good quality of life. The Ministry of Labour has assigned the Department of Employment and agencies under the supervision of the Ministry of Labour to organize the JOB EXPO THAILAND 2024 under the concept of “Thailand’s most fun job-generating event.” The event will take place from June 28 to 30, 2024, from 11.00 to 21.00 hours at HALL 6 – 7, Queen Sirikit National Convention Center.
