Labour Minister Prepares for Thailand 4.0 with Minister Attached to the PM’s Office

Content Description

On 23 February 2017 at the Sukosol Hotel, Labour Minister General Sirichai Distakul, Permanent Secretary of Labour M.L. Puntrik Smiti and the ministry’s executives, met with Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Mr. Suvit Maesincee to discuss workforce development in alignment with national reform, strategy and unity frameworks.

The discussion with the Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office concluded that the Ministry of Labour would need to start by defining what would be needed from the workforce and to view the people as the 20-year strategy as a whole. The Ministry of Labour will need to work as a cluster by creating a roadmap to determine clear working directions, organizing workshops to formulate businesses models for the people in terms of society, agriculture, tourism and services. This will also require information and communication on the needs of skilled labour in each profession in order to develop strategies for people development. The Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office emphasized government policies for a Thailand 4.0, with people being at the core, with importance being both people and technology. This is because if the people are not skilled, integration of technology will not help, and if the focus is on people, then education, profession, health and mentality become important components for development.
