Labour Minister Presents Social Security Contributions to Deceased Workers in Cosmetics Factory Explosion

          On December 4, 2018, at 14.00 hours, Labour Minister H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo conferred social security benefits to relatives of workers who were in an explosion and fire at Mintech Laboratory Co., Ltd, a cosmetics manufacturing site located within Soi Pra Mae Arun 25, Tiwanon Road, Banmai, Pakkred, Nonthaburi. The explosion happened on November 29, 2018, and resulted in the death of three workers and hospitalization of one worker who were at the site at the time of the incident. The families of the deceased received benefits from the compensation fund as follows: 1) Mr. Priwit Chantor’s family received 486,720 Baht in compensation for death, 33,000 Baht for funeral expenses, and 171 Baht in pension contributions amounting to 519,891 Baht. 2) Mr. Jamorn Kaornsa’s family received 802,828.80 Baht in compensation for death, 33,000 Baht for funeral expenses, and 34,088.76 Baht in pension contributions amounting to 869,917.56 Baht. 3) Mr. Natthakarn Buabang’s family received 547,200 Baht in compensation for death, 33,000 Baht for funeral expenses, and 570 Baht in pension contributions amounting to 580,770 Baht

 

 

          The severely injured and hospitalized worker Mr. Pongpat Cherdchupan was admitted to the hospital and will be entitled to contributions from the compensation fund to cover medical expenses until the end of treatment, up to 1,000,000 Baht. He will also be entitled to compensation for loss of income amounting to 60 percent of the worker’s salary for up to 1 year. The Labour Minister also provided additional medical remedies to the family of Ms. Vipaporn Chancherm, an insurer who passed away from allergies to seafood, amounting to 360,000 Baht.
          The Labour Minister has urged the Ministry of Labour’s units to strictly monitor workplace safety to help reduce problems of employees in danger. If employees face any threat, the Ministry of Labour’s Social Security Office has funds to care for employees in the social security system and ensure that workers are compensated, and medical expenses are paid for a better quality of life for workers in the future.
