On June 30, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin received a donation of 200,000 chicken eggs from Charoen Pokphand Foods or CPF, 50,000 eggs from Sang Thong-Akara and affiliates, 1,000 packs of drinking water from TTech Development by Khun Khemchat Singthong and Khun Arun Singthong, and 200 kilograms of sausages from Krungthai Food Products, represented by Khun Khemchat Singthong. The donations were made to support workers following the camp closure measures to fight COVID-19. Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Ms. Aumpun Thuwawit, Director-General of the Department of Employment Mr. Phairoj Chotikasathian, and the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General Ms. Bubpha Rueangsud joined the meeting at the Chatumongkol Room, 6th floor, Ministry of Labour.
Mr. Suchart said that Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha, and the Ministry of Labour under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan is concerned for the workforce, from the CCSAs decision to close construction worker’s campsites, restricting the travel and movement of workers in the dark red provinces such as Bangkok, Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, Samut Sakhon, Samut Prakan, Nakhon Pathom for one month. The measure aims to control the spread of COVID-19 in worker camp clusters. In addition, the Ministry of Labour was assigned to care for affected workers by paying compensation benefits in the case of unemployment, at the rate of 50 percent of wages.
“Today, the Minister of Labour thanks Charoen Pokphand Foods or CPF for donating 200,000 eggs, Sangthong-Akara for donating 50,000 eggs, TTech Development for donating 1,000 packs of drinking water, and Krungthai Food Products for donating 200 kilograms of sausages. The private sector has joined forces with the government to support consumer goods. The Ministry of Labour has delivered the goods to the Thai Contractors Association Under H.M. The King’s Patronage. This will be used to help workers affected by measures to close the workers’ camps,” concluded Mr. Suchart.
