Labour Minister Sets Up the Ministry of Labour’s Kitchen; Assigns Secretariat to Prepare 5,000 Meal Boxes for Flood Victims in the South

On December 18, 2024, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labour, assigned Mr. Aree Krainara, the Secretariat to the Labour Minister, to attend to the issue. On this occasion, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, assigned Mr. Santi Nantasuwan, the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General, to visit the area, assess the situation, and assist flood victims in the southern province of Nakhon Si Thammarat. Agencies under the Ministry of Labour of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province participated in the effort, including the Provincial Labour Office, the Provincial Employment Office, the Provincial Labour Protection and Welfare Office, the Provincial Social Security Office, and the Nakhon Si Thammarat Skill Development Institute 22.

Mr. Aree said that Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, the Minister of Labour, and the Ministry of Labour’s executives are concerned about the floods in the southern provinces, as many households in the area have been affected. Therefore, they instructed the establishment of the Ministry of Labour’s Operations Center to assist flood victims in the South at the Nakhon Si Thammarat Provincial Labour Office. The “Ministry of Labour’s Kitchen to Assist Southern Flood Victims” was tasked to prepare boxed meals to give to flood victims in the area to provide initial relief. Today, he was assigned to visit the area with the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General, agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, or the five labour leaders, to assist flood victims in the area. They worked together to cook and distribute boxed meals to flood victims in 6 districts, covering 8 locations in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, including the Muslim cemetery in Khlang Sub-district, Mueang District, Moo 1 in Tha Ruea Sub-district, Mueang District, Moo 8 in Chang Sai Sub-district, Phra Phrom District, Moo 3 in Bang Nok Wak School, Chaloem Phra Kiat District, Moo 5 in Khuan Phang Sub-district, Ron Phibun District, Moo 8 Khuan Sung Temple in Chawang Sub-district, Chawang District, the Subdistrict Administrative Organization Office in Na Wa Sub-district, Chawang District, and the Phipun District Office, Phipun District. A total of 5,000 boxes were distributed.

“The people affected by the floods in all 6 districts of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province expressed their gratitude to the Ministry of Labour for setting up the Ministry of Labour’s kitchen in their area; the initiative gives them fresh and quality food to consume. The Ministry of Labour will also rehabilitate flood victims after the water recedes by deploying technicians from the Department of Skill Development, together with the Skill Development Network, to provide repair services for electrical appliances, motorcycles, and small agricultural machinery and inspect electrical safety in houses damaged by the floods throughout December,” said Mr. Aree.
