Labour Minister Shows Concern for Fire in Krisda Nakhon Village 31 on Borommaratchachonnani Road and Urges the SSO to Examine Benefits to Help Families of the Deceased and Injured Urgently

          Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin gave his condolences to the deceased’s relatives and showed concern for the employees injured in the fire within Krisda Nakhon Village 31, Borommaratchachonnani Road. He charged affiliated agency officials to urgently help with benefits according to procedures.

          On April 4, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin spoke about the fire that set ablaze at a house, at 138/12, in Soi Anyamanee 17, Krisada Nakorn Village 31, Borommaratchachonnani Road, Sala Thammasop, Thawi Watthana, Bangkok. The government, under the leadership of Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha, and the Ministry of Labour under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan gave his condolences to the relatives of the deceased and showed concern for the employees injured in the fire. The Labour Minister, therefore, ordered agencies under the Ministry of Labour in the area to take care of the injured workers to receive medical treatment according to the protection and benefits under the law, and coordinate with the relatives of the deceased in the case of insured persons, to urgently assist with funeral expenses and compensation benefits in the event of old age.

          Mr. Suchart said that he had instructed the local social security office to inspect and help insured persons affected by the fire. The Social Security Office’s Secretary-General, Mr. Tosapol Kritawongwiman, ordered the Bangkok Social Security Office Area 6 to examine the status of all insured persons who were deceased and injured. The examination found that the scene of the accident was a 3-story building. When the fire was calm, the building collapsed entirely, causing the death of five people, one of whom is currently an insured person, three people were insured persons with an old-age pension and one person who was never an insured person Mr. Somanya Nilthong, aged 48. The insured persons were as follows: 1) Mr. Suthat Plengklad, 38, an insured person under Section 33, and an employee of KS Plastics. After work, he was a volunteer firefighter. The family will receive 50,000 baht for funeral expenses, 82,800 Baht compensation for death, 132,884.03 Baht for pension funds for a total of 265,684.03 Baht. 2) Mr. Thanapop Prapai, 44, ended his status as an insured person on January 1, 2019. The family will receive pension funds, including interest, of 17,624.07 Baht. 3) Mr. Orapon Tuamthong, 26, ended his status as an insured person on December 31, 2016. The family will receive pension funds, including interest, of 12,223.12 Baht. 4) Mr. Kiert Patterson, 35, ended his status as an insured person on December 31, 2016. The family will receive pension funds, including interest, of 29,004.87 Baht, totaling 324,536.09 Baht in compensation. The three injured persons were: 1) Mr. Itthipol Prasongsub, 34, an insured person under Section 33. He is currently in treatment at Hua Chiew Hospital. 2) Mr. Surasak Plengklad, 32, ended his insured persons status on June 15, 2018. He received medical treatment at Wichai Vej Hospital, Nongkhaem. 3) Mr. Thiraphon Thongsiri, 26, is not an insured person. He received medical treatment at Chulalongkorn Hospital. The people who were injured will receive medical treatment until complete recovery and compensation for the lack of income according to the doctor’s certificate regarding required for time off and hospitalization. The Bangkok Social Security Office Area 6 will notify the insured persons and families of the benefits and will facilitate the disbursement of compensation to those entitled.
