Labour Minister Takes PM Orders to Urgently Support the Families of Victims of the Mass Shooting in Nong Bua Lamphu.

          The Labour Minister, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, spoke about the shooting inside a child care center in Tambon Uthai Suwan, Na Klang District, Nong Bua Lamphu Province, causing 37 deaths and ten injured people. He expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and those injured in the shocking incident. The Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, General Prayuth Chan-ocha, ordered the relevant agencies to urgently support the families of the deceased and wounded. The Labour Minister has instructed the Social Security Office to pay compensation benefits for the two deceased insured persons. The first person is Mr. Santi Prathumchai, an insured person under Section 33 and an employee of the Uthai Sawan Subdistrict Administrative Organization. He died while performing work duties. His beneficiaries will receive entitlements from the Compensation Fund, which includes funeral expenses of 50,000 Baht, 120 months of compensation in the event of death amounting to 1,078,560 Baht, and old age pension of 35,226 Baht, totaling 1,163,786 Baht. The second person is Mr. Weerachon Boonwitien, an insured person under Section 33 and an employee of the Uthai Sawan Subdistrict Administrative Organization. He died while performing work duties. His beneficiaries will receive entitlements from the Compensation Fund, which includes funeral expenses of 50,000 Baht, 120 months of compensation in the event of death amounting to 1,035,720 Baht, and 88 installments of old age pension of 48,525 Baht, totaling 1,134,245 Baht.
          In addition, five deceased people were previously insured under Section 33 and contributed to the old age pension (Social Security Fund). The people included Mr. Wongtawat Multo, who was an insured person and resigned in 2004, with two installments of old age pension, of 199 Baht, Mr. Saksit Raksapol, with 147 installments of old age pension of 64,083 Baht, Mrs. Petchnapha Sarasit, with an old age pension of 32,166 Baht, Mr. Waranchai Prapaspong, with 34 installments of old age pension of 25,277 Baht, and Mr. Panya Khamrab, the perpetrator, with an old age pension of 5,799 Baht. The Social Security Office will pay benefits for the seven employees/insured persons, totaling 2,425,555 Baht.
“I would like to express my deepest condolences to the families of the deceased in this incident. The Ministry of Labour’s five departments have been asked to join forces to visit the families’ homes, to comfort and restore their mental health, and to assist in helping to find a job or participate in additional vocational training, according to the needs of each family,” concluded Mr. Suchart.
