Labour Minister Visit Chiang Mai for Workforce Preparation

            Labour Minister General Sirichai Distakul will visit Chiang Mai province on 12-13 January 2017 to follow up progress within the 4 Northern provinces (Chiang Mai, Mae Hong Son, Lampang and Lampoon). Chiang Mai is a center for investment, industry and transportation in the North, with potential to develop Logistics Park. In addition to this, it is an international hub with borders connected to Myanmar.
           During the visit, the Labour Minister and committee will follow up progress in alignment with government policy and acknowledge problems, obstacles and comments from both private and public stakeholders. This will include following up progress on the 8+1 labour reformation agendas for a Thailand 4.0 and alignment with the 20-year strategy on human resource development. The Labour Minister and committee will visit the Northern Workers’ Rehabilitation Center (Chiang Mai) and observe the “Global Thai Kitchen” project at the Chiang Mai Provincial Skill Development Center 19. The visiting committee will also visit logistical operation at Nim Si Seng Transport 1988 Co., Ltd, and observe training on working preparation in the tourism and health service industry, conducted at the Wellness Academy in San Kamphaeng district.
           “Chiang Mai is a large province, with a large tourism industry. It is currently the center of tourism and logistics, with numerous areas for investment. The Labour Minister is thus determined to monitor progress and listen to the obstacles faced by all stakeholders, ensuring the people are benefitted most from government policy and the 8+1 agendas on reformation. The Labour Minister is also determined to create employment and income to the people, as well as prepare them to be a quality part of the workforce in alignment with company demands,” said Mr. Ananchai Uthaipatanacheep, the Ministry of Labour’s spokesperson.
