On 10 March 2017, Labour Minister General Sirichai Distakul visited Map Ta Phut Complex to acknowledge progress on management of occupational safety, hygiene and environmental efforts and the establishment of a workplace safety center in Rayong due for completion in 2017.
The Labour Minister emphasized the Safety Thailand policy which he said would create confidence among both existing and future investors. The Labour Minister also acknowledged obstacles and advice by Map Ta Phut Complex which will help create an action plan for future initiatives, and asked for cooperation from government units in Rayong to own safety initiatives in support of the Eastern Economic Corridor spanning 3 provinces including Rayong, Chon Buri and Chachoengsao.
After the meeting, the Labour Minister visited the Environment Monitoring & Control Center (EMCC) at the Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate in Rayong. The industrial estate currently houses 2,682 businesses totaling 255,505 employees with another 169,000 people in surrounding communities.
