Labour Minister Visits Nakhon Phanom to Give Tools to Independent Workers to Make a Living, Create Careers, and Increase Household Income

            On August 30, 2024, at 10.00 hours, the Labour Minister, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, chaired the opening ceremony of the World Paper Wasps Eating Festival to Conserve Local Wisdom 2024 and visited the booths of public service activities of agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Nakhon Phanom Province. The Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-Generals, Mr. Samat Pattamasukon, Deputy Governor of Nakhon Phanom Province, Mr. Kampanatchakrawan Wiwet Sriputtha, heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Nakhon Phanom Province, local administrative organizations, community leaders, and labour networks joined in the welcome at the front yard of Pla Pak District Office, Nakhon Phanom Province.

            Mr. Phiphat said that he was pleased and honoured to chair the opening ceremony of the “World Paper Wasps Eating Festival to Conserve Local Wisdom 2024” in Nakhon Phanom Province today. It is a project to promote and stimulate the economy to generate careers in tourism in Nakhon Phanom Province. It is a way of conserving local wisdom, promoting local culture and traditions, and generating income for the community. Farmers raising paper wasps reflect the identity of the people of Pla Pak District. It also promotes safe agricultural products and a good way of life for the people of Nakhon Phanom Province.
“The Ministry of Labour is ready to support and promote freelance careers at all ages, to develop their knowledge, use local resources to promote careers, and upgrade community tourism to meet standards, generate a stable income, have a good quality of life, and create social security to drive the country’s economy in the future,” said Mr. Phiphat.

            Mr. Phiphat and the delegation visited the activity booths of agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Nakhon Phanom Province, such as the booths providing consultations, requesting benefits for workers overseas, recruiting for roles in the country and abroad, labour protection laws, recruiting and advising on the rights of insured persons under Section 40, and the mobile unit providing one-stop social security services. The event received a lot of interest from labour volunteers, labour graduates, independent labour networks, insured persons, groups receiving work to do at home, independent occupation groups who received training from the Ministry of Labour who attended the event, and the many people of Nakhon Phanom Province who also participated.

            Then, Mr. Phipat presided over the ceremony to present livelihood tools to those who completed training to upgrade their skills under the project to develop skills of informal workers and specific target groups to enhance career opportunities through activities to develop their skills in line with individual abilities for employment in the 2024 fiscal year. The training was organized by the Nakhon Phanom Skill Development Institute 41, Na Sai Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Mueang Nakhon Phanom District. Mr. Phiphat said that he was pleased and honoured to preside over the ceremony to present essential training tools (livelihood tools) to those who completed the training to upgrade their skills under the project to upgrade the skills of informal workers (freelance occupations) to enhance their career opportunities, organized by the Nakhon Phanom Skill Development Institute 41 today. This project has a target group of state welfare cardholders with basic career skills and informal workers (freelance occupations) who want to learn new skills and receive support that focuses on creating career opportunities, increasing household income, and supporting local resources in line with the context of the area.

            “I would like to congratulate and express my appreciation to all the trainees who see the importance of developing their skills. I hope this project will be beneficial to the participating trainees who will be able to use the knowledge and tools they have received to benefit their careers and generate income for themselves and their families,” said Mr. Phiphat.
