On January 7, 2022, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin visited and encouraged employees in two establishments. The first was Safe Skin Medical and Scientific (Thailand) Co., Ltd., which operates in producing medical rubber gloves. The company is located at Prik Subdistrict, Sadao District, Songkhla Province, and has 866 insured persons. The second organization was Thavorn Rubber Industry (1982) Co., Ltd., located in Sadao Subdistrict, Sadao District, Songkhla Province. The company has 234 insured people and produces and distributes smoked rubber sheets for domestic and international markets. Secretariat to the Labour Minister Mr. Suthep Chitvong, the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on politics), Mrs. Thienrat Navamawat, the Department of Employment’s Director-General Pairoj Chotiksetian, Deputy Governor of Songkhla Province Mrs. Sureyaphan Na Songkhla, Director and Factory Director of Safe Skin Medical and Scientific (Thailand) Co., Ltd., Khun Khu Cheng Lee Ong, President of Thavorn Rubber Industry (1982), Dr. Thavorn Ruangwarunwattana, and the Ministry of Labour’s executives also joined the occasion. Mr. Suchart thanked and commended the executives of both companies who are part of driving the country’s development. They are both an important part of supporting the country’s economy by promoting employment to provide employees with income and wellbeing even amid the COVID-19 crisis that persists. He said they would still need to work together, joining forces with both the public and private sectors.
Mr. Suchart continued that the government under the leadership of Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha, and Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, who oversees the Ministry of Labour, is concerned for the people and those affected by COVID-19. The Ministry of Labour has been instructed to help and heal those affected by the pandemic. The Labour Minister gives importance to the quality of life of the workforce, as it is considered a cog that plays an important role in driving the country’s economic prosperity, development, and stability.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Labour has implemented the following key measures: The Factory Sandbox Project, proactive screening with RT-PCR 100% under the “Workforce Fighting Together” program, the establishment of vaccination centers for insured persons under Section 33, remedial measures for insured persons under the “Section 33 We Love Each Other” program, remedies for insured persons under Sections 33, 39 and 40 in 29 provinces, and the reduction of contributions and additional benefits in case of unemployment. For Songkhla, the Ministry of Labour has given compensation to insured persons under Sections 33,39, and 40, for a total of 512,686 insured persons and 5,422 employers, for a total of 5,139,554,000 Baht. It has also launched the project to promote and maintain employment in SMEs. The government has supported employers in maintaining employment so that employees have work. The support has reached 5,327 employers and 113,325 employees, for a total of 339,975,000 Baht.
