Labour Minister Welcomes Neyagawa Major from Osaka, Japan on Courtesy Call and Discussion on Safe Educational Institution

           On November 22, 2018, Labour Minister, H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo welcomed Mr. Norio Kitakawa, Neyagawa Mayor from Osaka, Japan and committee, on courtesy call and discussion on the establishment of a safe educational institution in Thailand. The meeting was also attended by the Ministry of Labour’s senior executives and took place at the Labour Minister’s reception room on the 6th Floor, Ministry of Labour. The Labour Minister stated that the Ministry of Labour places importance on safety at work, with a focus on policies to drive the implementation of the government’s Safety Thailand policy. The awareness of safety among youths and students is on way of doing this, whereby the Ministry of Labour has previously signed MOUs on creating a safety culture with educational institutions to coordinate with all concerned sectors including the public and private sectors including the Ministry of Education, the Federation of Thai Industries and the Department of Local Administration for example.
           Furthermore, in 2015, the Ministry of Labour organized a “Safety Education and Health Care” project which held a contest for safe educational institutions to raise awareness and instil a culture of safety among students and staff. A total of 2,054 intuitions and 1,234,292 students took part, ranging from kindergarten to higher education schools.
           Pol.Gen. Adul said that from the discussion today, the Ministry of Labour will cooperate and provide guidelines from the implementation of safety in Japanese educational institutions to develop examples to promote safety culture at all educational levels and to develop safety to be effective and maximize the quality of the youths entering the labour market.
