Labour Minister’s Assistant Follows Up on Labour Minister’s Orders

            On March 23, 2022, at 15.00 hours, Assistant to the Labour Minister Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong presided over the meeting to follow up on the Labour Minister’s orders. Secretariat to the Labour Minister Mr. Suthep Chitvong, the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on politics), Mrs. Thienrat Navamawat, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mrs. Bubpha Phanpeng and the Ministry of Labour’s executives also joined the meeting at the Prasong Rananant meeting room, 5th floor, Ministry of Labour. The meeting informed the Labour Minister’s orders regarding the measures to reduce contribution rates and expedite the proposal to the Cabinet. It also covered a follow up on the progress of the Social Security Act, the Informal Workers Act, and amendments to the law on increasing maternity leave (from 90 days to 98 days), including readiness to take care of the insured persons in case of contracting Covid-19 in the provincial/area level. Additionally, the meeting covered joining the Line Group with the Chamber of Commerce and Federation of Thai Industries to answer questions about the services of the NHSO, progress on building cheap housing for insured persons, progress on the improvement of the Pathum Thani Rehabilitation Center for Workers, Region 1, to provide physical therapy services for Office Syndrome, and conflicts between Ukraine and Russia. Furthermore, it discussed preparations after the Labour Minister signed a joint agreement on Thai-Saudi workers, organizing activities to help workers by inviting the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Labour’s executives to visit the area and meet the people.
            The Ministry of Labour’s executives were asked to clarify doubts or notify the progress on inquiries in various Line groups, such as the labour union and informal worker Line Groups. They also covered the labour graduates and volunteers, proactively publicized the Ministry of Labour’s missions at the community level, and the results of solving problems according to the people’s complaints. The data from the Prime Minister’s Action Center indicates that the Ministry of Labour has 4,655 complaints. It also covered the progress of operations by the Office of the Permanent Secretary of Labour, the Department of Employment, the Department of Skill Development, the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare, and the Social Security Office.
