Labour Office in South Korean Visits Thai Workers After Fire in Plastics Factory in Song Huong Factory in Hwa Song

Mrs. Wannaporn Chuamnaj, advising Amabassador (on labour) visited Thai workers after the fire at the plastics factory at the Song Huong Factory in Hwa Song on the 2nd of December 2014. The fire happened around 11.00 hours and is still under investigation for causes. During the fire, flames had extended and also caused damage to the Thai female worker accommodation which housed 9 workers. There were no injured people from the incident. On the occasion they had assisted in translation and provided clothes and food to the workers. The visit gave hope to employers to arrange new accommodation in the vicinity for all 9 workers, reporting that during the fire it was the time where people were sleeping so they did not take clothes or valuable items out with them.
