On February 4, 2022, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin visited the area to observe service activities booths of agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Phetchabun Province at the auditorium of the Khao Kho District Office, Phetchabun Province, Deputy Governor of Phetchabun Province, Mr. Chatchawan Benjasiriwong, senior executives from the Ministry of Labour and heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Phetchabun Province also participated in this event. In the visit, they observed the activity booths of agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Phetchabun Province consisting of a project to resolve occupational issues, met with labour volunteers establishments participating in the project to promote and maintain employment of SMEs, and met Thai workers returning to work in Saudi Arabia. They also observed the establishment of productivity enhancement projects and the promotion of the welfare of good workers following the sufficiency economy philosophy. They also visited insured persons with disabilities who passed vocational training from the rehabilitation center, presented the products, and met with encouraging Section 40 insured persons in Phetchabun Province.
Mr. Suchart said that today, he was pleased and honoured to meet SME entrepreneurs, labour volunteers, and insured persons from Phetchabun Province, all of which are important mechanisms to jointly drive the country through the COVID-19 pandemic. The government, under the leadership of Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha and Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, who oversees the Ministry of Labour is concerned for workers and those affected by the COVID-19 situation.
Mr. Suchart continued that the COVID-19 situation affected employment. Thus, the Ministry of Labour carried out various projects to assist, such as remedial measures for employers and insured persons under Sections 33, 39, and 40, in areas affected by the lockdown. In Phetchabun province, 721 employers received remedies, amounting to 17,658,000 Baht. Insured persons in all three sections totaled 285,280 people, amounting to 2,798,760,000 Baht, for a grand total of 2,816,418,000 Baht. The project is also to promote and maintain employment in SMEs in Phetchabun province with 1,427 registered employers and 12,342 registered Thai employees. Additionally, there is a program to alleviate the occupational issues of the people and 16 activities to develop skills which were rolled out to 260 workers affected by the COVID-19 situation. Courses included electrical equipment repair, tiling, masonry pottery, fabric frame making, synthetic sewing fabrics, introduction to female beauticians and male barbers.
“I would like to encourage everyone to get through this crisis. Through the cooperation of all sectors, we can solve problems that arise quickly. I pray for all sectors to be safe from COVID-19. We will walk together without leaving anyone behind,” concluded Mr. Suchart.
