Malaysia Labour Office Visits Thai Chefs in Penang

 The officers of the Office of Labour Affairs in Malaysia paid a visit to Thai chefs at a Thai restaurant “Thai Baiyok” in Heritage club on Penang island. Thai Baiyok restaurant opens in 2011, located in Penang City sports club. The restaurant accommodates 25 tables and hires 3 chefs from Thailand. From conversation with them, all chefs have proper employment contract and work permit.

 The officers of the Office of Labour Affairs in Malaysia paid a visit to Thai chefs at a Thai restaurant “Thai Baiyok” in Heritage club on Penang island. Thai Baiyok restaurant opens in 2011, located in Penang City sports club. The restaurant accommodates 25 tables and hires 3 chefs from Thailand. From conversation with them, all chefs have proper employment contract and work permit. Monthly salary is Baht 15,000 – 25,000 per person. The employer takes good care of them and provides them with accommodation and food, and also transportation. The workers are happy with their income and living conditions. They also inform that since opening, the business is good and there are more and more customers.


 The officers then gave the workers PR documents on various activities of the Embassy and the Thai community “Thai Club” and other useful information. The registration documents for the election of the House of Representatives member outside the Kingdom of Thailand are also given and the workers are asked to help inform other Thais in Penang about the election too.
