On June 13, 2013, Mrs. Kanchanaporn Saikal, Minister Counsellor (Labour Affairs) met with examiners of Labour Skill Standard Testing for Level 1 Thai Massage Therapists at Villar Building of the Royal Thai Embassy in Berlin. In welcoming the examiners and boosting their morale, she said the Royal Thai Embassy, Office of Labour Affairs in Berlin, and Ministry of Labour’s Department of Skill Development jointly organised the testing to help enhance skill standard and improve quality of lives of Thai workers in Germany.

80 examiners from a total 121, 66.12 percent, passed the Labour Skill Standard Testing, which is a satisfactory level, given that the testing for Level 1 Thai Massage Therapists was a new curriculum and held in Germany for the first time and that examiners might have not been familiar with anatomy, physiology, concerned vocabularies and massaging styles. Some examiners also have language difficulty as they have lived in Germany for a long time and do not understand Thai very well.

As there are still many Thai people who wish to take labour standard testing, Office of Labour Affairs in Berlin will, therefore, continue organizing such the test as well as tests for Level 2 and Level 3 Thai Massage Therapists. It expects examiners to use their knowledge gained from the test to further improve their skills and gain recognition from others. The project organizer will improve the curriculum to better suit target groups.
