On June 20, 2013, Mrs. Chantana Boon-Arj, Minister Counsellor (Labour Affairs) attended the orientation for 26 Thai trainees at Minami Kashiwa city in Saitama Prefecture at the invitation of IM Japan. The Thai trainees, coded 25-03, were selected by Department of Skill Development to join the IM Japan programme.
At the orientation, also attended by Mrs. Malee Wada, oversea employment promotion assistant, Mrs. Chantana gave the Thai trainees advices and knowledge on how to work and live in Japan as well as what they should or should not do to ensure smooth and success training. The trainees were also told to save the money, improve their Japanese language, and try to reach N3 level of Japanese language test as they will have a better chance of finding a good job and earning high income when they get back to Thailand.
Mrs. Chantana said Japan has increased investment in Thailand and Japanese firms in the Kingdom need skilled Thai workers with good Japanese. The trainees can also use their saving to start their business.
Mrs. Chantana also told the trainees to be careful with their spending as Yen is weakening. Trainees should set a target of their saving and try to reach it. The trainees were also told about Japanese labour laws including working hour, holiday, overtime payment calculation and overtime payment, the basic knowledge they need to know before starting thier work.
Mrs. Chantana also told the trainees to contact Office of Labour Affairs in Japan when they find themselves in trouble and promised to give them a morale-boosting visit once again.
