On July 1 and 30, 2014, Mrs Chantana Boon-Arj, Minister Counselor (Labour Affairs), was invited by IM Japan to give advice on work and daily living in Japan to 63 Thai trainees during the orientation ceremony. They were among two groups of trainees sent to receive training in Japan by the Ministry of Labour’s Department of Employment. The ceremony took place at IM Japan training centers in Minami and Kashiwa cities in Saitama prefecture. Mrs Malee Wadah, assistant tasked to promote oversea employment, also attended the event.

1) The first batch of 25 Thai trainees (26-03) consisted of 23 males and 2 females. They arrived in Japan on June 18.

2) The second group of 38 Thai trainees (26-04) consisted of 23 males and 2 females. They arrived in Japan on July 16.

3) Mrs Chantana informed the trainees that the Office of Labour Affairs in Japan will look after them and give them advice to make sure that they have smooth training and living in Japan. She told the trainees what they should and should not do while working and living in Japan. The trainees were urged to study Japanese work regulation and gain necessary skills so they can use them when they return to Thailand. They were also urged to set their life target, make saving and learn Japanese language. She also wished them success.

4) Mrs Malee explained details of Japanese labour laws to the trainees, including work hours, holiday work, overtime payment calculation, and advanced over time payment, to help them prepare for work. The trainees were told to contact IM Japan supervisors or the Office of Labour Affairs in Japan if they want any assistance when they start their training.
