Minister of Labor Drives Occupational Safety and Health Operations, Supported by the Workmen’s Compensation Fund (Central and Eastern Regions)

On August 26, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labor, presided over the opening of a seminar on “Driving Occupational Safety, Health, and Work Environment Operations” supported by the Workmen’s Compensation Fund (Central and Eastern Regions). The event was attended by Mr. Aree Krainara, Secretary to the Minister of Labor; Mr. Pairoj Chotikasathien, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Labor; Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, Secretary-General of the Social Security Office, and other senior officials of the Ministry of Labor. The seminar took place in the Grand Ballroom on the 3rd floor of The Emerald Hotel, Din Daeng District, Bangkok.

Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labor, stated that the seminar “Driving Occupational Safety, Health, and Work Environment Operations, Supported by the Workmen’s Compensation Fund” (Central and Eastern Regions) aims to raise awareness among employers and employees within the social security system about preventing and reducing work-related accidents. The event also focuses on protecting rights and benefits and providing medical services in cases of work-related illnesses, as well as rehabilitation and restoration services to help workers regain their livelihoods. The event focused on the implementation of occupational safety, health, and environmental operations in accordance with the missions of the Workmen’s Compensation Fund and the Social Security Office, with cooperation from all sectors to promote concrete safety in the workplace. This effort aims to minimize losses affecting both workers and employers, which directly impacts the welfare and well-being of laborers, who are vital to the sustainable development of the nation.

Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, Secretary-General of the Social Security Office, underscored the significance of the seminar’s objectives. These include knowledge exchange, lessons learned from the integration of occupational safety, health, and work environment initiatives, and presenting the outcomes of projects funded by the Workmen’s Compensation Fund. The goal is to gather feedback from stakeholders on the development of social security work, enhancement of benefits, and improving access to comprehensive and effective information provided by the Social Security Office. The seminar attracted 600 participants, including senior political and administrative officials from the Ministry of Labor, executives from the Social Security Office, committee members of the Workmen’s Compensation Fund, subcommittee members on workplace safety promotion and prevention, representatives from the Department of Labor Protection and Welfare, the Department of Disease Control, the Occupational Safety and Health Promotion Association, university-affiliated hospitals, employer and employee councils, professional workplace safety officers, business representatives, and social security staff. The seminar was a dynamic event featuring a range of activities. These included the presentation of plaques and certificates of recognition to model businesses for their outstanding work in accident reduction and occupational disease clinics. Academic discussions on workplace safety provided a platform for in-depth exploration of key issues. The event also featured exhibitions and public relations activities, which were instrumental in raising awareness of social security and the Workmen’s Compensation Fund. Additionally, presentations on the achievements of funded agencies offered valuable insights into the impact of their work.
