On November 1, 2024, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labor, expressed his condolences regarding the deaths of four Thai workers and the serious injury of another due to the unrest in Israel. He stated, “Myself and the executives of the Ministry of Labor offer our condolences to the families of those who lost their lives while working in Israel.” He has directed Mr. Boonsong Tapchayut, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Labor, to coordinate with the Labor Affairs Counselor at the Embassy in Tel Aviv, Israel, to assist in evacuating all workers from the north to the south. Following the incident, he ordered the Permanent Secretary and five senior officials from the Ministry of Labor to visit and support the families of the deceased and to explore ways to provide assistance and compensation.
“Myself and all Ministry of Labor staff deeply share in the sorrow of the bereaved families,” said Mr. Phiphat.
