Ministry of Labor and IOM Join “Labour Market Information for Migration Policy”.

         Today (June 4, 2061), Mr. Jarin Chakkaphark, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Labor assigned Mr. Somsak Apiwananakul, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Labor, to open a workshop on “Labour Market Information for Migration Policy” at Courtyard by Marriott, Bangkok, said labor market information is an important part of determining the supply and demand of labor. This will lead to the determination of labor policies. It also includes the management of foreign workers to access necessary information and skills. In addition, the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Labor also thanked the International Organization for Migration (IOM) has organized this project. The results will be used as a guideline for the management of foreign workers among ASEAN members in the future.

         The workshop was organized by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Strengthening Skills Certification, Employment, and Migration Information Workforce to Support ASEAN Integration. The ASEAN Senior Labor Officials Meeting (SLOM) was held in May 2015 in Manila, Philippines. It has been certified by ASEAN member countries. The meeting was divided into 3 sessions, the first one, during 4 – 5 June 2018, the second session between 16-17 August 2018 and the third from 5 to 6 November 2018.
