During 22-23 May 2011, Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General (Mrs. Pranin Muttaharach), Department of Labour Protection and Welfare’s Inspector (Mrs. Plernpit Wittayaudom), Department of Employment’s Inspector (Mrs. Pornpan Tayatham), and Inspection Bureau’s Director (Mrs. Lakkana Boonsanong) went to assess the work of Office of Labour Affairs in Malaysia.
On their visit to Malaysia, the delegations were briefed by Office of Labour Affairs in Malaysia about its annual performance, challenges, and solution. They also gave it some recommendation regarding performance improvement. Afterward, they went to visit Thai workers working in the following workplaces.
1) Thai Odyssey in Fahreheit Shopping Mall: Thai Odyssey operates a massage therapy business. It has over 22 centers around the country and 25o employees.
2) Pertanian Pertiwi: Pertanian Pertiwi, a subsidiary of CP Group of Thailand, is a ready-to-eat food producer, selling under several brands. It also engages production of pet food, and chicken/frozen shrimp, as well as shrimp farming. Its products are sold domestically and exported to Europe and Japan. In this factory, there are 58 employees.
Furthermore, the delegations paid a courtesy call on the Thai Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Malaysia (Mr. Thana Duangratana). At the meeting, the two counterparts discuss about labour issues in Malaysia. The delegations also ask for cooperation from the Embassy regarding the upcoming election outside the Kingdom. The Ambassador hosted a dinner in honor of the delegations at Lala Thai restaurant.
