Ministry of Labour Invites the People to Join Red Cross 2018 Event Starting November 23

            The Ministry of Labour invited the people to join the Red Cross 2018 event to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the Thai Red Cross Society and visit the Ministry of Labour’s booth with an exhibition showcasing ancient Thai kites that are difficult to find, demonstrations on independent professional training and games of Bingo and lucky draws throughout the 9 days and nights at Lumpini Park.   

 

          Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Jarin Chakkaphark said that the Ministry of Labour and its Housewife Association jointly organized the Red Cross event every year but arranging a booth for the Ministry of Labour. This year, being the 125th anniversary of the Thai Red Cross Society, the ministry organized an exhibition under the theme “125 Years of the Thai Red Society, 100 Hearts”. Activities include knowledge sharing sessions, professional skills development with demonstrations and independent career training by agencies under the Ministry of Labour such as the making of Sirindhorn silk cocoon keyrings, tie-dye handkerchiefs, cocktails, gel candles, fabric stone scarves, glass blowing, fabric stone brooches, including games of Bingo and lucky draw. There will be many awards, such as 1 salung of gold, half a salung of gold and quality electrical appliances. High quality and inexpensive goods will also be on sale such as clothes, bags, cra-wolollipops from Celebrate Wealth Co., Ltd, goods from bakeries, Pasunan Thai Style, Patita Cotton, Petchaboon Blankets, Pan Ling from Lopburi, sports apparel, jewelry and much more.
          Associate Professor Dr. Rattana Chakkaphark, President of the Ministry of Labour’s Housewife Association, added that the Ministry of Labour has submitted activities for the contest in 3 categories including 1) 1 Thai ancient treasures hard to find, under the concept “125 Years of the Thai Red Society, 100 Hearts” whereby the Ministry of Labour sent representatives to submit kites to the contest including Ms. Orapin Boonnok from the Bangkok Social Security Office Area 4 and won the contest and trophy of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, along with prize money worth 15,000 Baht. The ancient Thai kite that won the award was the Chula Kite. The runner-up were representatives from Bangkok agencies, whereas the second runner-up were representatives from the Office of the Secretary of Defense. Two commendation awards were given to representatives from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and Chulalongkorn University 2) The Red Cross Choice Award 2018 with the first round on Saturday, November 24, 2018, from 18.00 – 21.30 hours and the final round on Saturday, 1 December 2018 from 18.00 – 21.30 hours. The Ministry of Labour’s representatives were Ms. Jutamas Wirat from the Office of Medical Services, Social Security Office and 3) Ministry of Labour participated in the booth contest too.
          Additionally, the Red Cross Event has many other activities such as blood donation in the garden from 17.00-21.00 hours behind the old building (gate 4, Rama 4 side), free physical checkups the whole event, blood donations, an exhibition about health and the mission of the Thai Red Cross Society, an exhibition of the Royal Patronage of 6 reigns and 125 years of the Thai Red Cross Society, sale of products from royal projects, an exhibition on ancient rare kits, demonstration on how to fly kites and a showcase of kites submitted for the contest, donations to the Red Cross and booths from many other public, private and association organizations too.
          The Ministry of Labour thus invited the people to join the event and the ministry’s booth to create memories, look back on good things and create happiness in celebration of the Red Cross Event 2018 throughout the 9 days and nights during 23 Nov – 1 Dec 2018 from 10.30 – 22.00 hours at Lumpini Park, Gate 1, opposite Lumpini police station, Wireless road, without entrance fee. The earnings from the Red Cross Society will be to provide relief, treatment and get rid of harm to the poor to improve their quality of life.
