On March 20, 2025, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labour, and General Nattapol Nakphanit, Deputy Minister of Defense, co-chaired the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding on the Promotion of Employment for Conscripts between the Department of Employment, the Department of Skill Development, the Ministry of Defense, the Thai Chamber of Commerce, and the Board of Trade of Thailand. Mr. Aree Krainara, the Secretariat to the Labour Minister, Mr. Phuchong Worasri, assigned to the Office of the Prime Minister and currently serving at the Ministry of Labour, Mr. Pairoj Chotikasathien, Chairman of the Advisory Board to the Minister of Labour, Air Chief Marshal Athikun Kongmee, Advisor to the Minister on Illegal Worker Management, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, General Sanitchanok Sangchan, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Mr. Samat Pattamasukon, the Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Nattawut Phattharayoon, Roi Et Provincial Employment Officer and Acting Academic Labour Advisor, Ms. Kornjirat Phongchanthorn, Assistant to the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Sakdinart Sonthisakyotin, Assistant to the Permanent Secretary of Labour, executives from the Ministry of Labour, the Thai Chamber of Commerce and the National Chamber of Commerce, and executives from the armed forces attended the event at the Ministry of Labour’s meeting room on the 5th floor of the Ministry of Labour.
Mr. Phiphat said that the Ministry of Labour has implemented policies in line with the government’s policy under the leadership of Prime Minister Paethongtarn Shinawatra, which aims to ensure that all groups of people have jobs, especially conscripts, who are disciplined and qualified personnel. Once discharged, they should be promoted to have appropriate careers, incomes, and benefits. The Ministry of Labour, therefore, provides job placement services both domestically and internationally, along with career counseling, readiness assessments, training, and skill development to ensure that they receive quality employment, appropriate compensation, and social security rights.
Currently, many business sectors are interested in recruiting soldiers, such as manufacturing, automotive, logistics, service, security, engineering, craftsmanship, retail, and food businesses. The Ministry of Labour, therefore, organizes free training programs in various fields, such as automotive mechanics, electrical, welding, business administration, online marketing, and foreign languages, to enable soldiers to have competitive potential and become an essential force in developing the country’s economy.
Mr. Somchai Maruksriwan, Director-General of the Department of Employment, said that the MOU signing involves 33,665 vacant positions to support military conscripts after discharge. The event had 11 companies promoting job vacancies, consisting of 1) Minor International Public Company Limited, 2) Home Product Center Public Company Limited, 3) Thai Smile Bus Company Limited, 4) PTG Energy Public Company Limited, 5) Charoen Pokphand Group Company Limited, 6) SF Corporation Public Company Limited, 7) ASM Management Security Company Limited, 8) Big C Supercenter Public Company Limited, 9) Central Restaurants Group Company Limited, 10) C.J. Express Group Company Limited, and 11) Unicorn Public Company Limited. There were also job placement services in Thailand and abroad, career guidance, career counseling, career readiness assessments, career demonstrations, and skill development for workers to be equipped with knowledge and skills in line with the needs of the labour market and apply these to their careers after being discharged.
