Ministry of Labour Organized “Anti-Human Trafficking in Thailand” Seminar

Permanent Secretary of Labour M.L. Puntrik Smiti chaired the “Anti-Human Trafficking in Thailand” seminar for the second time this year. The seminar discussed labour issues with the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, NGOs and other relevant units, which took place at the Prasong Rananant Conference Room at the Ministry of Labour today (17 February 2017). The session facilitated exchange of knowledge on anti-human trafficking efforts, as well as advised for further actions. The three topics included the establishment of 3 more welfare centers for workers in fisheries in Pattani, Chon Buri and Rayong, permission for witnesses and victims of human trafficking crimes to be employed in all types of work agreed on by the employers and exempted from work permit fees, and measures to support human trafficking victims by promoting employment opportunity measures.
