On October 5, 2018, at 06.30 hours, Labour Minister H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo presided over the commencement ceremony for the project to promote, form policies and partnerships for wellbeing in the workplace. He said that the Ministry of Labour was the main unit to protect and promote security, stability and wellbeing in the workplace, which would contribute to sustainable development and economic society in both the present and future. He explained that basic factors which contribute to a good quality of life in the workforce were promoting comprehensive wellbeing which includes physical, emotional and societal dimensions. At present, most of the Thai working population face problems in terms of wellbeing which has resulted in an economic loss as high as 630,053 million Baht, or 7.2 percent of the GDP.
The Ministry of Labour has identified the problem and has thus set “Safety Thailand” as one of the key policies. The success of implementation of the policy will require partnerships though civil measures within the project’s policies and the Ministry of Labour’s activities in promoting workplace wellbeing. The efforts will aim to reduce health issues and accidents to successfully build and propel a preventative safety culture, concluded Pol.Gen. Adul.
