Ministry of Labour Sources Additional Quota for Handicapped Employment

          Permanent Secretary of Labour M.L. Puntrik Smiti welcomed Mrs. Chanchai Sittisarn, Vice President of the Army Housewives Association and committee, and Mr. Apichart Karunkornsakul, President of the Foundation for Social Innovation to report progress on new projects, initiatives and employment for 10,000 disabled workers. Over the past year, a total of 19 disabled workers have been employed through support from 3 companies in addition to the Army Housewives Association and the Adjutant General Department’s intentions to employ 100 workers at district health clinics and public health service units nationwide, under Article 35 (other assistance and employment support).
          In addition to this, M.L. Puntrik urged the parties to source more employers with intention to employ disabled workers, assigning the Department of Employment to issue letters to provincial governors to quantify their intention to employ disabled workers; the efforts will further promote employment and self-sufficiency for disabled workers. In the past, the Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Employment Office has initiated efforts to promote employment in provincial military camps where Suranaree University of Technology has helped teach how to raise chickens and plant vegetables to retired military.
