The Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General and spokesperson Mr. Soothi Sukosol explained that Labour Minister General Sirichai Distakul, who has decades of experience and knowledge about the Cambodian workforce, has initiated systematic management of foreign workers. He said that the Labour Minister has directed senior officials to meet with local organizations and employers who remain in violation of the Foreign Worker Management Act B.E. 2560 to obtain cooperation in legally correct employment of foreign workers. In addition to this, the Ministry of Labour has established a special center to facilitate services in employment of migrant workers and ensure maximized efficiency. The center will consist of an administration, monitoring and reporting, analysis and news report, appeals, public relations and operations division, which will help all sectors and bring Thailand up to internationally recognized standards in the long-run. He added that Thailand has been elected as an ASEAN representative for implementation of ILO initiatives.
“Negotiations with Cambodia and Myanmar have resulted in the agreement of solid guidelines which is good progress. The Ministry of Labour will release an announcement of the procedures for clear understanding, reiterating the importance of transparency, moral, ethics and a serviceขmind in successfully carrying out foreign worker management.
