MOL Academic Labour Advisor Joins Public Forum to Give a Talk on “The Role of the Government in Supporting the Recovery of Informal Workers from Crises”

          On October 16, 2022, at 13.30 hours, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Boonchob Suttamanaswong, assigned Academic Labour Advisor Mrs. Napasorn Toongsooksai to talk on “The Role of the Government in Supporting the Recovery of Informal Workers from Crisis.” The speech presented the important role of driving policies and programs to improve the quality of life of informal workers in Thailand. The occasion took place in a public forum entitled “Increasing Prices and Low Wages: How Will Informal Workers Overcome The Crises?” at the Ballroom of Century Park Hotel.

          The Friedrich-Ebert Foundation organized the event in collaboration with the Informal Workers Association (Thailand) and the Foundation for Labour and Employment Promotion to present the situation of living in the informal sector during the cost of living crisis. It also presented experiences in policy and work planning to develop the recovery of informal workers from abroad and exchanged guidelines on formulating policies and plans to support informal workers in overcoming these crises.
