On March 12, 2020, Labour Minister M.R. Chatu Mongol Sonakul assigned Assistant to the Labour Minister Dr. Duangrit Benjathukul Chairungrueng to meet with the Surat Thani Chamber of Commerce, business operators, employers and employees to resolve unemployment issues. The meeting took place at the Surat Thani Social Security Office. He emphasized that “The Unemployment Support Center” was for all departments under the Ministry of Labour to help affected people urgently. The key issues were skill development in Russian and Chinese languages, which are in great demand in the area because it is the main tourist nationality in the province. Therefore, he instructed the Department of Skill Development to accelerate language training plans for interested people to prepare to welcome tourists after passing through the crisis. The efforts were satisfactory for the employers who participated in the discussions.
