MOL Commences Course to Create Impressive Services and Upgrade Labour Skills to Support the Tourism and Service industry in Satun Province

          Advisory Board Member to the Minister of Labour, Mr. Natthawat Teeratathamrong, gave opening remarks in training to enhance labour skills, the Impressive Service Creation Course, Class 1/2022. The training will take place from March 16 to 20, 2022, at the Ananya Lipe Hotel Meeting Room, Koh Salai Subdistrict, Mueang District, Satun Province. The Department of Skill Development’s Deputy Director-General, Mr. Chalermpong Boonrawd, gave a report. Mr. Natthawat said that the tourism and service industry is one of the key industries that drive the country’s economy. In addition, the government, led by Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha, and the Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin, has the policy to increase the capacity of tourism and services. It is an important strategy to generate income for the country. Thailand has many tourist attractions to generate income distributed in all regions and business sectors. Therefore, there are more businesses related to tourism, both directly and indirectly, expanding.
          Mr. Natthawat continued that the tourism and service industry needs to be revitalized and prepared for the country’s opening to support tourists who will arrive after the COVID-19 situation has eased. It is in line with the national development issues that should be given special attention in the next two years, from 2022 to 2023, to supplement and build the capacity to revitalize and drive the country to “fall and get up quickly.” There are four development topics, namely strengthening the internal economic base, upgrading the country’s capacity to support long-term sustainable growth, the development of people’s potential and quality of life as the main driving force for the country’s development, and improving and developing fundamental factors to promote national rejuvenation and development.
          The Satun Skill Development Office organizes the project to develop labour skills in tourism and services. Training participants included those from tourism enterprises and Akira Lipe Co., Ltd. It aims to develop new labour potential, have the skills and knowledge following the demands of the tourism labour market, and up-skill and re-skill workers to work following the market demand. The objective is to prepare for technological changes in the tourism and service sectors and increase the country’s competitiveness in tourism.
