MOL Confirms No Involvement in Disabled Money Fraud with Reported Findings to Relevant Parties

               The Labour Minister confirmed examination of cases of fraud in money for the disabled where no Ministry of Labour official was found guilty. A letter will be sent to the relevant agencies to acknowledge the progress.

             On November 11, 2018, Labour Minister H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo spoke about the case where President of the Disability Rights Network Mr. Preeda Limnontakul will negotiate with the Ministry of Labour’s executives mid-November about prosecution of officials relevant to all claims of fraud in money for the disabled, where if a clear answer is not provided, the prosecution will be elevated for further process. It is expected that tens of thousands of disabled persons and networks nationwide will fight for their rights and fairness at the Prime Minister’s office. For this matter, the Ministry of Labour presented facts that the Department of Employment investigated the issue to find that no DOE official was in wrongdoing as claimed. A letter has also been sent to the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities to take action in the relevant section as authorized. In the Ministry of Labour’s part, the Department of Employment has promoted employment for persons with disabilities under Section 33 and 35 of the Persons with Disabilities Empowerment Act, B.E. 2550 and amendments (version 2) B.E. 2556 totaling 9 claims, consisting of 2 claims under Section 33, 6 claims under Section 35 and1 claim under both sections. A total of 6 claims were filed from 2016-2017 and 3 in 2018.
             Pol.Gen. Adul spoke about claims from disabled persons in Kalasin. He said the DOE had investigated, whereby caretakers of disabled persons claimed incomplete receipt of benefits according to the law. From investigation of benefits under Section 35, it was found that disabled workers did not receive the full compensation as stated in the agreements, however no official was found in wrongdoing or fraud. The Kalasin Provincial Governor has formed an investigation committee and the Department of Employment has concluded the facts and presented it to the Ministry of Labour’s executives for acknowledgement. Furthermore, a letter has been sent to the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities and the Kalasin Provincial Governor for consideration and further process. The Ministry of Labour by the Department of Employment has monitored progress consistently and has reported findings to the executives to prevent problems from reoccurring.
