Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong said that the government under the administration of Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha and Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, who oversees the Ministry of Labour, gives importance to the development of the workforce’s skills following the 20-year national strategy on human resource development and capacity building. It drives increased competitiveness and preparedness for quality workers to enter the labour market. Additionally, Thailand and the world faced the Covid-19 situation causing workers to be severely affected. Therefore, the government has the policy to expedite remedial assistance by focusing on re-skilling to support more diverse work and enhance the knowledge and expertise (Up-Skil) of skilled workers affected by the COVID-19 virus. The Labour Minister assigned the Department of Skill Development to implement the project.
