On November 24, 2021, at 14.00 hours, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Ms. Bubpha Rueangsud presided over the award ceremony for the “Pathum Thani Labor Excellence Award 2021.” Awards were presented to organizations with a superior labour management system for the year 2021. The Department of Labour Protection and Welfare’s Director-General Mr. Niyom Songkaew and Pathum Thani Provincial Deputy Governor Mr. Ekawit Meepian attended the ceremony at the Grand Ballroom, Tinidee Hotel Bangkok Golf Club, Pathum Thani Province.
Ms. Bubpha said that the Ministry of Labour has important policies to drive, build and strengthen the workforce, following the sufficiency economy philosophy and good governance. It aims to develop the workplace and workers’ potentials to have the ability to analyze and innovate and to work with others, as well as aiming to strengthen business establishments and support links with regional economies. Despite the COVID-19 outbreak, the Ministry of Labor is ready to drive and oversee enterprises and workers through this crisis together.
The Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour congratulated all the establishments that received the award today. He said that each business establishment is an important mechanism to the manufacturing sector to promote employment and generate income. Establishments that have a good management system and meet international standards would result in workers having higher potential and a better quality of life. This is in line with the 20-year national strategy that will lead Thailand towards stability, prosperity, and sustainability.
There were 176 awards given to enterprises. This included 66 awards for outstanding establishments in labour relations and welfare, 32 awards for outstanding establishments in occupational safety, health, and working environment at the provincial and national level, and one award for outstanding performance in effective change from the Office of the Public Sector Development Commission (OPDC), awarded to the People’s Sector Network for the “Model Industrial Park in Good Labour Practices (GLP).” Two awards were given for good labour projects following the sufficiency economy philosophy, and 2 awards honouring establishments that maintained the Thai labour standard system for 5 and 15 consecutive years. There were 21 awards for establishments with good labour practices and 18 awards for the prevention and resolution of drug problems in the workplace. There was the announcement of establishments that have used the GLP logo in administration for four organizations, and certificates awarded to 12 educational institutions for safety in 2022. The event also awarded certificates to 13 SMEs participating in the project to accelerate the development of management systems and proactive occupational safety, health, and working environment in the workplace, and certificates awarded to 5 organizations for collaboration on labour protection and welfare.
