MOL Gives Press Conference on the “National Labour Day on 1 May 2022” at the Ministry of Labour

The Labour Minister held a press conference on the National Labour Day event on May 1, 2022, revealing that the Prime Minister will preside over the opening ceremony and receive requests from workers at the Ministry of Labour. There will also be activities organized to create awareness of labour by agencies under the Ministry of Labour and worker groups.
          Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin revealed that the government under the leadership of Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha, and Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, who supervises the Ministry of Labour, realizes the importance of the workforce. They have sent their good wishes to workers in all occupations, both in Thailand and abroad. They also support the organization of the National Labour Day for the Year 2022. In organizing this year’s event, the National Labour Day Organizing Committee consists of the chairpersons from 14 employees organizations, the State Enterprises Worker’s Federation of Thailand, and the Center for Coordinating Informal Workers. The Confederation of Thai Labour’s President, Mr. Suchart Thailuan, is Chairman of the Organizing Committee. The activities within the Labour Day event will consist of the National Labour Day event’s opening ceremony. Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha will chair the event, accept requests, and give a speech to the workers. There will be a royal car procession and procession of workers’ cars leaving Sanam Luang to the Ministry of Labour. There was also a panel discussion on ‘How the Economy During COVID Affects Labour and Wages.’ Participants include Mr. Panas Thailuan, President of the Confederation of Thai Labour, Mr. Chinnachot Saengsang, President of the Confederation of Thai Labour, and Professor Lae Dilokwittayarat, an independent scholar. The moderator will be Khun Panadda Wongphodee. The event aims to increase knowledge and understanding among the workers. There will also be exhibitions organized by agencies under the Ministry of Labour and workers.
          The Labour Minister further stated that the Ministry of Labour is concerned and aware of the importance of fellow workers and will take the requests and recommendations from workers into consideration in formulating policies. It shall follow the situation that Thailand has faced amid the COVID-19 pandemic to raise workers’ quality of life and their families to be stable and sustainable.
