Today (4 September 2017) at 11.30 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour M.L. Puntrik Smiti as president of the Ladies Association, chaired the presentation of the Ministry of Labour’s Education Scholarships for 2017, which took place at the Permanent Secretary’s lounge. The Permanent Secretary congratulated recipients and expressed hope that it would support the education of the people’s children. She said that the scholarship was like an award to for those with good behaviour and grades; she then urged recipients to remain diligent for a brighter future for both themselves and the nation as a whole.
The objective of the scholarship is to help lower-ranked civil servants, staff and officers with lower incomes, which is something that Labour Minister General Sirichai Distakul has given great importance to. Thus, the Labour Minister has supported the Ladies Association through funding earned from the annual Red Cross Fair, allocated for scholarships to help support the education of the Ministry of Labour’s officers’ children.
This year a total of 152 children passed the selection criteria with 125 students in the kindergarten to grade 9 level, 17 students at the grade 10 to vocational education level and 10 students at the Bachelor’s degree level. Categorized into affiliated units, the 26 came from the Office of the Permanent Secretary, 27 from the Department of Employment, 24 from the Department of Skills Development, 60 from the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare and 15 from the Social Security Office, totaling 351,000 Baht in scholarships.
