On October 6, 2020, at 09.00 hours, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned Assistant to the Labour Minister Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong followed up on missions following the Labour Minister’s policies. He met with heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Chonburi and received a briefing on key labour metrics and policy drivers, including workforce problems and obstacles in the area. The meeting took place at the Krua Thai meeting room, Chonburi Institute for Skill Development 3.
The Assistant to the Labour Minister said that the Labour Minister had emphasized every department to work proactively, oversee working areas comprehensively, and create awareness of the Ministry’s mission. He also urged the departments to help SME operators, relieve any troubles experienced, care for insured persons to access benefits, develop the workforce in line with EEC requirements, and monitor the use of illegal foreign workers.
In this regard, Chonburi has 16,538 companies comprising 767,185 employees and 48,057 vacancies. It has 12,849 job applicants, whereby 4,645 have received job placements. There are 125,545 foreign workers, comprising migrant workers from the three nationalities. This includes 108,573 migrant workers who migrated legally under the MOU, following the Cabinet’s resolution on August 20, 2020, comprising 56,506 Cambodian nationals, 9,227 Laos nationals, and 42,840 Myanmar nationals. A total of 24,501 companies registered with the Social Security Office, with 878,273 insured persons.
