MOL Organizes Fire and Evacuation Drill to Campaign Safety Thailand

             The Ministry of Labour’s Department of Labour Protection and Welfare organizes a fire and evacuation drill to campaign for organizations, state enterprises and government units to adhere to the Occupational Safety, Health and Environment Act B.E. 2554. The campaigns also aimed to increase awareness and understanding about extinguishing fires using existing tools and equipment, and helping victims of fire blazes in a real-life situation

             The Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General Mr. Vichai Kongrattanachart, Firefighting Director in fire drills and training at the Ministry of Labour for 2017, gave at the ministry’s foyer. He explained that the Ministry of Labour has given great importance to workplace safety, particularly in high-rise workplaces, large-size offices with a high workforce population and government units at risk of fire hazards. For this reason, fire and evacuation drills are organized annually to create understanding about fire extinguishing with existing tools and equipment, helping trapped victims and training the Ministry of Labour’s officers to prepare the workforce for real-life situations and to be a role model for other units and organizations. In addition to the importance placed on fire hazards, the ministry is also driving the Safety Thailand policy. 

             The Department of Labour Protection and Welfare Director Mr. Kittipong Laoniphon, added that organizations and other units can coordinate with the Ministry of Labour to seek advice on legal measures related to fire and evacuation drills, by contacting all provincial departments of labour protection and welfare, the 10 offices in Bangkok and the Workplace Safety Division at the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare in Taling Chan.
