Labour Minister General Sirichai Distakul welcomed Dr. Lyu Kee Ill, President of Far East University from South Korea and committee on courtesy call at the Ministry of Labour’s lounge. Permanent Secretary of Labour M.L. Puntrik Smiti and the ministry’s executives also joined in the discussion.
In his speech, the Labour Minister said that the Ministry of Labour had identified the importance of information technology in boosting workforce productivity, also including the supervision and maintenance of information databases which must be secure, trustworthy and widely available for the people. For this reason, he explained that the Ministry of Labour’s own workforce must be updated with the latest trends and techniques on cyber security so that online users can be confident in the ministry’s systems. He further explained the alignment of the 8 agendas for reform, the government’s 20-year strategy and the ministry’s own plans on digital development to support the Thailand 4.0 policy.
The Permanent Secretary of Labour signed the Memorandum of Understanding for academic collaboration and human resource development between Far East University of Korea and the Ministry of Labour. The MOU was signed with Dr. Lyu Kee Ill, president of Far East University at the Executive Operation Room.
Essence of the memorandum include promotion of academic collaboration and human resource development between the 2 parties, exchanging information through visitations from both the university and Ministry of Labour’s staff. This will promote research, academic forums, workshops and training whereas the academic collaboration will promote the exchange of experience, best practices, material science, printed materials and news. Both parties agreed to the establishment of a committee to look into the details and form an operation plan, curriculum and support expenses.
