MOL Partners with Thai Health Promotion Foundation and Burapha University to Award Organizations as Wellness Models

          On November 25, 2021, at 13.30 hours, Assistant to the Labour Minister Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong presided over the opening ceremony of the forum to takeaway lessons to develop an integrated management system for sustainable development and to present an award for model establishments. The occasion took place at the Novotel Sriracha and Koh Sichang Marina Bay Hotel, Sriracha District, Chonburi Province. Mr. Thapabutr Chomsevee, President of the Association for Leaders of Change for Labour Development, Mr. Arthit Ismo, Executive Chairman of the “create a wellness organization model to enhance the quality of life of workers in health and safety towards decent work” project, Mr. Pongsak Thongratana, Director of the Thai Health Promotion Foundation and Assistant Professor Dr. Sakchai Setanawat from Burapha University also participated in the occasion. Mr. Surachai congratulated the executives of establishments that were selected as model organizations in wellness to enhance the quality of life of workers in health and safety towards decent work. As the name of the project suggests, the Ministry of Labour intends to raise standards in the development of the quality of life for workers to international standards. Improving the quality of the workers’ lives will strengthen the potential of workers and increase the economy’s competitiveness for a stable, prosperous, and sustainable society. The Ministry of Labour, guided by the policies of Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin, emphasizes the improvement of workers’ quality of life, including employers and employees. Especially in the time of the COVID-19 crisis, the Ministry of Labour has mobilized all forces to integrate with various agencies, including the public and private sectors, in preventing and helping workers to be free from diseases and safe so that they can work in the establishment to continue to drive the business and develop the nation’s economy further.

          Mr. Surachai further said that the establishments worked together to be model organizations, developed into wellness organizations responding to the sustainable development of the quality of life. It is considered an innovation for the workforce. Therefore, he encouraged all project participants to be proud of working together for the nation and to use it as a guideline for continually improving the workforces’ quality of life.

          “The Ministry of Labour would like to thank the Thai Health Promotion Foundation, the Association for Leadership Changes for Labour Development, Burapha University, the faculty of lecturers and the fourth class of the Change Leaders for Workforce Development, who organized activities to enhance organizational well-being to become a successful model organization. We extend a special thank you to the Thai Health Promotion Foundation who supports the activities of the Change Leaders for Workforce Development class 4, as the new generation will be an important force in improving the quality of life of workers. It is considered a network partner at the brain level that will promote the creation of wellness in the organizations for sustainable quality development in the future. Thank you to all seminar participants for their commitment to mutual understanding and innovation in learning to help build a concrete health organization model. It is an innovation of learning that is very useful,” concluded Mr. Surachai.

          Project Executive Chairman, Mr. Arthit Ismo, said that today’s activities consisted of two parts. The first part was the lessons learned to develop the next lifestyle management system or Next Normal. Burapha University was assigned to be responsible for the implementation and research conclusions presented to the steering committee chaired by the Permanent Secretary of Labour, to consider as a policy guideline of strategic partners with the Thai Health Promotion Foundation as a policy coordinator. The second part was the awarding of certificates to 35 enterprises that have overcome the COVID-19 crisis, changing their working methods based on safety and health guidelines for workers to be disease-free and safe, ensuring secure workplaces. Their efforts promote morale among employers and employees to become a wellness organization. The organizations participating in the project to create a model wellness organization will enhance the quality of life of workers towards sustainability.
