The Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on politics), Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat, revealed that today (March 10, 2022), a group of Thai workers who migrated back from Ukraine came to the Ministry of Labour to request assistance in the case of unpaid wages. In this regard, the Labour Minister, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, showed concern and emphasized the care and facilitation of all workers. Therefore, she coordinated with the International Coordination Bureau staff to facilitate the filling of the documents, accept the request, and collect documents and evidence. As the Ministry of Labour does not have a labour office in Ukraine, the request must be sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to continue.
Mrs. Thienrat spoke about Thai workers who have completed the quarantine period following public health measures and returned to their domiciles and still have accrued wages pending payment from the employer and would like to seek help. In this regard, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Boonchob Suttamanaswong, ordered the Provincial Labour Offices to facilitate workers. Any worker domiciled in the provinces can apply for help at the Provincial Labour Offices in the area. For those who live in Bangkok, the documents can be submitted at the International Coordination Bureau, 12th floor, Ministry of Labour, Mitmaitri Road, Din Daeng, Bangkok, or call 022321242 within official working days and times.
The documentary evidence required are as follows: a copy of the employment contract with the name and address of the employer; documents with proof of employment with the employer/company; a copy of the bank passbook used for receiving a salary or salary slips for the last four months or evidence of time attendance with proof of incomplete payment from the employer; a copy of their ID card; a copy of the passport used to work in the said country and the page with their photo; a copy of passport used to work in that country and pages with a work visa. The Ministry of Labour will facilitate the submission of applications and collect documents and evidence to be sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to proceed to the relevant section as the next step.
