On July 19, 2024, at 13.30 hours, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Pairoj Chotikasathien, chaired the opening ceremony of the project to strengthen the potential of labour services at the local level. The Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General, Mrs. Marasri Jairangsi, also attended the occasion, which took place at the Prince Ballroom 2 – 3, 11th floor, Prince Palace Hotel, Pom Prap Sattru Phai District, Bangkok.
Mr. Pairoj said that the Ministry of Labour thanked the Bangkok labor volunteers for their volunteer spirit and for sacrificing their time, physical energy, and financial resources to join in working for the Ministry of Labour in the 2024 fiscal year 2024. The Labour Minister, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, strives to support and provide compensation for everyone. There is an urgent policy to encourage Bangkok labour volunteers from 180 districts in Bangkok, with three people per district, totaling 540 people, to receive compensation of 600 Baht monthly. In the 2024 fiscal year, a budget has been allocated, and compensation has already been given to volunteer workers in Bangkok.
Mr. Pairoj added that in the work of Bangkok labour volunteers, it is necessary to know labour and the Ministry of Labour’s related missions. The Ministry of Labour’s missions covers a variety of areas, including the promotion of employment, skill development, vocational training, labour protection, and social security. It is the Ministry of Labour’s intention, as it recognizes the importance of development. The development will equip the Ministry of Labour’s personnel and networks to have knowledge, experience, potential, and ability to drive the essential missions of the Ministry of Labour and achieve set goals to benefit the people as a whole.
“The Ministry of Labour has an important mission to drive for people of working age to have more jobs, such as promoting working abroad, sourcing positions for unemployed people to have work, improving skills for higher-income workers, and promoting social security for workers in the informal sector. This requires cooperation from everyone in the network. They are an important force and must be prepared to disseminate information to create knowledge and understanding for the people in the area,” concluded Mr. Pairoj.
The project to strengthen the potential of providing labour services at the local level is organized by the Inspection and Evaluation Office under the Office of the Permanent Secretary of Labour. It aims to clarify operational guidelines and criteria for paying compensation to labour volunteers in Bangkok to strengthen knowledge and the potential to drive the essential missions of the Ministry of Labour to the people at the local level in alignment. It is also an opportunity to discuss and exchange opinions and suggestions in determining work guidelines and to build good relationships between relevant officials under the Ministry of Labour and Bangkok labour volunteers.
