Content Description

The Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mrs. Bubpha Phanpeng, visited Phang Nga Province to follow up on the implementation of the project to alleviate occupational difficulties through skill development activities among the Ban Bo Saen Housewives Farmers Group, together with relevant agencies. The Provincial Permanent Secretary, the Provincial Social Development and Human Security Office, representatives from the Provincial Commercial Office, Provincial Development Office, former community headman, and labour volunteers welcomed them at the Ban Bo Saen Housewives Farmers Group, Bo Saen Subdistrict, Thap Put District, Phang Nga Province.
Mrs. Bubpha said that the government under the leadership of the Prime Minister and Minister of Defence General Prayuth Chan-ocha, and Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, who oversees the Ministry of Labour, gives importance to the promotion of skilled labour for community enterprises in various professional groups to gain knowledge, skills, craftsmanship, and build strength, to create stability for the country’s community-based economy. The efforts are in line with the Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin’s policy to raise the potential and take care of the rights of informal workers, to support the Informal Workers’ Quality of Life and Protection Development Promotion Act. Today, she visited Phang Nga to meet the Ban Bo Saen Housewives Farmers Group. They have a career in agriculture and make tie-dyed fabrics using natural dyes from palm sugar peels or thick bark to make scarves, shawls, and handmade bags. Their group makes various products, whereby the group received a budget from the project to alleviate occupational difficulties from the Provincial Labour Office. They also received extended support from various agencies such as the Provincial Agriculture and Cooperatives Office, the Provincial Commercial Office, the Provincial Community Development Office, the Phang Nga Community College, the Phuket Rajabhat University, the Kapong District Agriculture Office, and the Phang Nga Provincial Agricultural Office. The group is regarded as a model for successful career skills development, using the local potential to create products that generate income for the group. This is a success for all sectors. It is an important force to generate income for the workers and contributes to the community’s economic development, which is Thailand’s fundamental economy. It ensures the people have sufficient income, making society happy. It encourages groups to relieve stress and creates good mental health and value for themselves and the community. It also promotes tourism to create an economy and income for the community.
“The Ministry of Labour appreciates the cooperation from all sectors, including labour volunteers who are a link to various agencies in the districts, subdistricts, and communities. Labour volunteers are an important part in bringing the Ministry of Labour’s mission to the people in the area, providing people with jobs, skills, careers, and income, ensuring they are protected and have sustainable social security as well,” Mrs. Bubpha concluded.
