MOL to Add Value to Low-Income Worker Skills

         Today (18 August 2017) at the Prince Prachaksinlapakhom meeting room in Udon Thani’s City Hall, Labour Minister General Sirichai Distakul chaired the meeting to follow up progress on labour issues in alignment with government process. The Labour Minister also acknowledged obstacles and advice from private enterprises and relevant units, revealing the meeting’s aim to drive labour missions to completion. He explained that this year, the Ministry of Labour will expand its missions to improve human resources in the general picture and that he would personally visit all regions to understand the problems and source methods of improvement to align operations with local needs.
         The Labour Minister presented operational guidelines to affiliated units in the 5 Northeastern provinces, advising officials and officers to uphold the principles of King Rama 9, working together as a labour team on the provincial level, a labour group on the regional level and labour community on the national scale. He said that situations would be consistently monitored to tailor operations and development plans to meet each region’s individual needs and also urged officers to share knowledge and information to the people under the zero tolerance policy which aims to eliminate corruption, human trafficking, illegal labour and worst forms of child labour.
         From there the Labour Minister and committee met with informal and senior workers at the Na Phlu Sub district Administration in Phen district, Udon Thani with aims to improve the skills of informal and low-income workers to have stable income and prepare the region’s workforce in becoming a hub for MICE businesses within the Mekong sub district. The Labour Minister also visited different services provided by affiliated units, visiting Thai Tapioca Company Limited in Mueang Udon Thani district which upholds environmentally friendly principles and green jobs.
