On March 22, 2022, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned the Labour Minister’s Advisor, Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan, to preside over the opening remarks to enhance awareness among employers, organizations, foreign workers, and network partners for the 2022 fiscal year. The occasion occurred at the Grand Ballroom, 3rd floor, Long Beach Cha-am Hotel, Cha-am District, Phetchaburi Province. The Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on politics), Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat, and heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Phetchaburi Province also participated in the event.
Mrs. Thiwalrat said that the government under the leadership of Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha, the Ministry of Labour under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, and Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin gives importance to employers and organizations that face the issue of a shortage of foreign workers. Foreign workers are considered part of helping to drive the economy. Therefore, there has been a resolution by the Cabinet agreeing to allow foreign workers to stay in the Kingdom to work legally.
Mrs. Thiwalrat continued that today’s training was organized for employers, organizations, and networks to know and understand the law and procedures for implementing the Emergency Decree on the Management of Foreign Workers B.E. 2560 and its amendments (No. 2) B.E. 2561. The training also covered laws related to working and staying in the Kingdom, health checks and insurance, social security rights, labour protections, and obtaining work permits for foreign workers. There is a time limit for every step, following the Ministry of Labour and the Ministry of Interior’s announcement to assist employers and organizations that employ foreign workers to work properly following the measures for importing foreign workers to work in Thailand, amid the COVID-19 situation, to resolve labour shortages and illegal workers, to keep businesses moving.
“Phetchaburi currently has 29,068 foreign workers working with 2,152 employers and organizations. The Ministry of Labour thanks the employers, organizations, foreign workers, and network partners in the areas that focus on this. This will help create awareness and understanding on the regulations, guidelines, and various laws related to the employment of foreign workers in the future,” concluded Mrs. Thiwalrat.
