MOL Visit the South to Promote Jobs and Careers to Support Strong Community Enterprise Groups

          On August 20, 2022, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mrs. Bubpha Phanpeng, visited Surat Thani Province to support the food processing community enterprise group in Tha Koei Subdistrict. The visit followed up on the implementation of occupational alleviation projects in skill development activities and related agencies. The Tha Chang District Chief, President of Tha Koei Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Baan Suay Group, Surat Thani Province, the Head of the Provincial Farmers Council, community leaders, heads of departments under the Ministry of Labour, labour volunteers, members of the occupation groups, and the media, welcomed them at the Food Processing Community Enterprise Group, Moo 6, Tha Thani Subdistrict, Tha Chang District, Surat Thani Province.
          Mrs. Bubpha said that the government under her leadership of Prime Minister and Minister of Defence General Prayuth Chan-ocha, and Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, who oversees the Ministry of Labour, has given importance to the development of skilled workers for community enterprises in various professional groups, to promote knowledge, skills, and craftsmanship. The initiative aims to build strength and stability for the country’s community-based economy, in line with Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin’s policy to raise the workforce’s potential and take care of informal workers’ rights, to support the Informal Workers’ Quality of Life and Protection Development Promotion Act. Today, she visited Surat Thani to meet and support the food processing community enterprise group in Tha Koei Subdistrict, including the chicken feed production group, which is a group that receives a budget from the occupational alleviation project by the Ministry of Labour. The food processing community enterprise group in Tha Koei Subdistrict receives budgets for food processing training courses in various products, such as shrimp paste, chili paste, Kapi Kua Kling, shrimp sausages, shrimp buns, and seasoned shrimp paste sauce. This group initially had 16 members participating in the training. It was a collaboration between the Provincial Farmers Council Office, the Surat Thani Provincial Labour Office, and many other relevant departments.
          Mrs. Bubpha continued that the Ministry of Labour thanked all sectors for recognizing the importance of creating jobs and careers for the workforce from the project to alleviate occupational issues through skill development activities. The initiative has promoted new occupations for the people besides farming. It can also generate additional income, taking care of vulnerable workers to earn income, have a good quality of life, and maintain the wisdom of the profession that shows the community’s identity. It is further development of community enterprises to stimulate a strong economic foundation.
