MOU Signed with OCSC for Skills Assessment Development

Content Description

On 29 March 2017, Permanent Secretary of Labour joined the signing ceremony for the Memorandum of Understanding on collaboration to develop professional assessment in civil services, which took place at the Tien Achakul Conference Room at the Department of Employment. The MOU was signed with the Department of Employment’s Director-General Mr. Varanon Pitiwan, Deputy Secretariat and Secretariat of the Office of the Civil Service Commission, M.L. Patcharapakorn Dhevakul and Mrs. Methinee Thepmanee, and the executive committee. The Permanent Secretary said, “The signing of this MOU between the Department of Employment and Office of the Civil Service Commission aims to disclose information on civil service missions and forms of work to the people. It also aims to show the people that this is a choice of profession, and helps prepare those who are interested in joining the civil services, applicants for government funds and the public, by providing information about the various assessments which can be used for professional decision-making. The assessments targeted for development will benefit both the people and government sector; the people will become aware of their professional strengths whereas the government sector can use this for the recruitment selection process, matching the right people to the right role. Apart from assessing knowledge and skills, the assessment will also evaluate personality, interests and the direction of future professions.”
The Permanent Secretary of Labour added, “Assessment development will take around 3 months and will be piloted with over 600,000 applicants for 2017, including existing civil servants looking to rotate roles. Once launched, interested applicants can access the assessment on the Department of Employment’s site (www.doe.go.th). It will also be used with over 800,000 high school graduates nationwide, where a role model will be established in each profession to give the students insight for future careers. Furthermore, a survey will be distributed to high school students nationwide to prepare them for the workforce.”
